The idol you want to visit your hometown with is…?

This coming Chuseok is a Korean holiday that lasts for three days in which most people return to their hometown to pay respect to the spirits of their ancestors. Although to most youths, returning to their hometown sounds about as much fun as watching grass grow. However the music site Monkey3 held a poll from the 24th to the 28th that gave suggestions on how to spice up the trip back home.

Monkey3 put up a poll titled "The Idol You Want to Visit Your Hometown With" on their website, and SNSD's Taeyeon came in first with a whopping 45% of the votes. Lee Seungi came in second with 15%, SS501's Kim Hyun Joong followed with 13%, Big Bang's Daesung came in third with 11% with Sandara Park and f(x)'s Sulli rounded out fifth and sixth place.

Family Outing Members’ Warped Faces

Members of Family Outing have proved that they do not care when it comes to ruining their image on the show.

In the episode that aired today on the 27th, it showed members, Lee Hyori, Seungri, Park Hae Jin, Kim SuRo, Park Si Yeon, Kim Hyun Joong, Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Jong Kook and Yoon Jong Shin, trying to break plastic wraps with their face. This game has been part of Korean shows for a long time yet it never lets us down. Even by looking at the pictures, you can tell how funny it is!

Their faces not only look hilarious, they look like they're made of clay! This was their Morning Mission to get out of cooking breakfast and as always all members tried their best to win. Their strong desire to win the game resulted with some hilarious captures of their smooshed faces!

The show usually makes fun of their faces in the morning because they have no makeup on but this time the no makeup faces don't even compare! I can't even recognize which person is which.

The show jokingly put subtitles asking for fans to not make capture pictures of the faces, how is that possible?

Kim Hyun Joong reads adult comics?

On the 27th in SBS's "Family Outing", Kim Hyun Joong (SS501, Boys Over Flowers) revealed that he reads adult comic books.

In the show, it first started with him revealing that his hobby is reading comic books. With this, Yoo Jae Suk asked, "What's the recent comic book you read?" Then he answered, "I read an adult comic book."

With his unexpected answer, Lee Hyori commented, "Jae Suk oppa likes those things", which bursted laughs and made both Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Hyun Joong embarrassed.

Well don't worry all fangirls of Hyun Joong! Fortunately, Kim Hyun Joong revealed that he first started reading adult comic book called, "Money War", clearing the misunderstandings (and thinkings) of the word "adult".

Hyun Joong and Seungri Go On a Family Outing

It's been a long and painstaking wait for BBVIPs and quaintes, particularly after a series of unfortunate news ranging from Daesung's car accident to Hyun Joong's swine flu diagnosis. However, their patience has finally paid off because the episode of SBS program "Family Outing" featuring Seungri and Hyun Joong has been released and it certainly did not disappoint!

Big Bang's maknae made his first appearance on the show, decked out in a smooth white suit that was reminiscent of his "Strong Baby" days. However, his moment of glory was ephemeral as the 4-D prince from the ever-popular drama "Boys Over Flowers" arrived, bringing in his aura of unprecedented beauty with him. Nonetheless, just the presence of these two male idols was enough to lead the hearts of both fangirls and Lee Hyori to "almost paradise~".

Who’s the Man? Rain is!

A fan recently put together the male celebrities who have been quoted to look up to Korea's top singer, Rain. Rain has really made his way up from the bottom. Now he is starring in the soon to be released movie, Ninja Assassin. Since he can easily be called one of the most famous people in Korea, it's no surprise that he has so many followers (no, not on Twitter.) From singers to actors, they've all names Rain someone they model themselves after.

Kim Hyun Joong recovering well, checkup at the studio

SS501 Leader Kim Hyun Joong was recently discharged from a hospital in Japan after contracting swine flu. He has been recovering pretty well and was well enough to go to the studio in Seoul on September 19th to test out his vocals.

SS501 is currently planning to release a new album at the end of the month. Kim Hyun Joong was set to record some vocals on the album but after testing out his vocals, they decided to hold off a few more days. Although he has recovered a lot, he still isn't at 100% condition to record for the album.

It's good to see that he's recovering so quickly, hopefully he will be recording soon and we'll see SS501 back on the stage together once again.

SS501 to release album in September

Contrary to earlier reports, SS501 will now release their new album in September instead of October!

DSP Media said on the 17th, "Kim Hyun Joong headed straight for home from Kimpo Airport yesterday afternoon, after returning to Seoul from Japan where he had been warded for the H1N1 virus. Unlike what was reported earlier, he will be recuperating at home."

They also revealed information about SS501's new album, "SS501 will release their new album in the latter part of September instead of October. This decision was taken after discussions with Hyun Joong and the other SS501 members. We had originally planned to delay the release of the new album because of Hyun Joong's illness but he has requested to follow the original schedule upon his discharge on the 15th."

Looks like it will be just a few days of rest for Hyun Joong afterall.

Guess Who’s Back

We reported yesterday that SS501 leader, Kim Hyun Joong who was stricken with the H1N1 virus on 6th September, would be returning to Korea on 16th September and here he is!

Hyun Joong had been cleared by the doctors, of having recovered from the H1N1 virus on the 15th and was discharged from the hospital in Japan on the same day where he has been staying for the past week. Hyun Joong then took a morning flight from Japan on the 16th and touched down at Gimpo Airport in the afternoon, and was greeted by a horde of media personnel awaiting his arrival.

As the first Korean celebrity to be hit by H1N1, many of Hyun Joong's fans were deeply worried about his health, with many turning up at the airport to welcome their idol back.

Wearing a mask for precautionary measures, Hyun Joong was requested to take it down for interviews and he obliged. Hyun Joong looked visibly thinner and worn out from his ordeals and we hope that he will get back in tip-top condition for himself and his fans. Hyun Joong said in a quick interview that he had fully recovered and told his fans to take safety precautions against the H1N1 virus.



DSP Entertainment will not rush Hyun Joong back to work, as his next destination will be to check himself into a treatment center opened by his friend on Jeju Island. He will continue to nurse himself back to health before resuming his hectic schedule from October which includes CF filming and the release of SS501's new album.

Kim Hyun Joong to be discharged today

We reported earlier that SS501 leader, Kim Hyun Joong had contracted swine flu while attending promotions for Boys Over Flowers on 6th September, causing him to be quarantined in Japan for treatment and missing the Seoul International Drama Awards 2009 where he was to pick up the Most Popular Actor award.

Some good news for fans of Hyun Joong as it was announced that he is going to be discharged from hospital today.

According to DSP Entertainment on the 15th, Kim Hyun Joong has been cleared by the doctors, without any traces of the H1N1 virus in his body and will be discharged today. In addition, having been cooped in hospital without running around for activities, Hyun Joong is in a very healthy state at the moment, and there should be no problems in resuming his hectic schedule but only if he avoids overworking himself to exhaustion.



Apart from Hyun Joong, a dancer for SS501 had also contracted the H1N1 virus but is now recovering from it. Hyun Joong's Boys Over Flowers co-stars and SS501 members were all cleared after taking tests for the H1N1 virus in Korea.

Hyun Joong will return to Korea on the 16th and check himself into a treatment center in Jeju Island opened by his friend. He will then recuperate until he has fully recovered.

Hyun Joong will resume work in October which includes filming for Tony Moly Skincare, AnyCall, Hotsun Chicken CFs. SS501's new album is also scheduled for October but the release date will be only be confirmed when Hyun Joong is ready to return.

Preview of Kim Hyun Joong and Seungri’s Family Outing

Earlier, we reported that Big Bang's maknae, Seungri would be taking over Daesung's spot on Family Outing while he recuperates from his injuries while Kim Hyun Joong would be the new guest family member.

That was reported in late August, with many wishing that that particular episode could be aired earlier. Well, time really flies isn't it, as we are now only a week away from Kim Hyun Joong's Family Outing episode on 20th September. We saw preview pictures of Seungri and Kim Hyun Joong on Family Outing earlier, and now the preview clip for the upcoming episode has been released.

Now the preview clip isn't particular interesting, just pure eye candy. It starts out with an ocean picture before transitioning into Hyun Joong, Seungri and Hyori running along the sandy beach like an opening for Baywatch. The family members will also dive into the ocean to look for something apparently (missing Chun Hee here...), Hyun Joong and Seungri playing army games while Hyori acts as a mermaid.

Kim Hyun Joong in the hospital for up to a month?

Over the weekend, while in Japan, SS501 leader and Boys Over Flowers star, Kim Hyun Joong was unfortunately diagnosed with Influenza A (H1N1) Swine Flu. He is currently held at a medical center in Tokyo, Japan and there are reports that he could stay there for up to a month. A representative from DSP Media stated that, "His health has improved greatly since he first fell ill over the weekend. However, he will have to stay in Japan from anywhere from two weeks up to a month for treatment."

All his currently planned schedules and participation in upcoming SS501 concerts will depend on how the treatment goes and his health. I wish him the best of luck and hope he recovers soon.

Kim Hyun Joong diagnosed with swine flu

SS501 leader and Boys Over Flowers star, Kim Hyun Joong, has been diagnosed with swine flu. The singer turned actor was in Japan to promote his hit drama series over the weekend, from 5 - 6th September. During the promotions, he had shown signs of a fever and a headache, which caused him to miss his activities on the 6th.

A representative from DSP Media gave a formal statement saying, "Kim Hyun Joong was scheduled for a flight, at 12pm on the 7th of September, he had passed through immigration without any problems but later in the afternoon, due to a sudden change to his health, he was taken to the emergency room instead."

While in the ER, it was diagnosed that the star had swine flu, and the representative says that the star is being treated but has to remain under further observation for more tests, causing him to remain in Japan. Kim Hyun Joong's manager has been sent to the hospital to check on the matter and will inform the public with more details when available. It's not known whether his SS501 members and the other F4 cast were tested for symptoms of H1N1 upon arrival in Korea.

Kim Hyun Joong’s Confessions

On September 5, flower boy Kim Hyun Joong had a kiss and tell of sorts during his "Boys Over Flowers" promotions in Japan. Several questions were asked and he answered confidently, often receiving much laughter or shocked reactions from the crowd.

When asked if he had ever held any part time positions prior to his gig as the leader of SS501, Kim Hyun Joong revealed he had previously worked as a paper boy and as a fast food employee. For the ladies, when asked what present he would give to his girlfriend, he answered simply, "A kiss," which made several hearts flutter without a doubt. Finally, Kim Hyun Joong expressed his desires of holding a concert at the Tokyo Dome with his SS501 brothers. The boys have already performed at Budokan this past August, but he truly wishes to perform at the Tokyo Dome with his group mates.

Who won the Popularity Awards at Seoul Drama Awards 2009?

In conjunction with Yahoo Korea, a portal site was created by organizers of the Seoul Drama Awards 2009, to poll users from around the world, to find out the most popular drama, actor and actress in the past year. The poll was held between 13th July and 30th August.

The winners of the respective categories are as follows.


Thanks to his SS501 background and popularity as Yoon Ji Hoo in KBS2TV Boys Over Flowers earlier in the year, Kim Hyun Joong walked away as the most popular actor with 48% of the votes. Lee Junki came in second with 26% for his Iljimae role while fellow Boys Over Flower star, Lee Minho was placed third.

Nation's little sister, Moon Geun Young was voted the most popular actress for her role in Painter of the Wind. Han Hyo Joo was 2nd for her Iljimae role while Goo Hye Sun came in third for Boy Before Flowers.

In the most popular drama category, Boys Over Flowers won with 38% of the votes, with Painter of the Wind and Iljimae coming in second and third with 34% and 26% of the votes respectively.

Kind of strange that the winners, second and third place all went to Korea. There were entries from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan among the nominees but none managed to register on the votes. And another coincidence was that it was just a 3-way fight between Boys Over Flowers, Iljimae and Painter of the Wind.


The 2009 Seoul Drama Awards ceremony will be held on 11th September, at the Olympic Hall in Seoul's OIympic Park from 6.30PM (KST). The prestigious event will be shown live via KBS2TV and probably KBSWorld (check your local listings).

Kim Hyun Joong next on Family Outing

It was reported that Seungri will be taking over Daesung for an upcoming episode of Family Outing. Well, things just got better after it was revealed that SS501's leader, Kim Hyun Joong will be the next Family Outing guest.

Kim Hyun Joong will be appearing as a guest family member and is currently in the midst of a 1N2D filming, from 24 - 25th August, in a village at Gangwon-do. Kim Hyun Joong had received lots of love as Yoon Ji Hoo earlier in the year in Boys Over Flowers, and is expected to receive plenty of attention from the Family Outing "sisters", Lee Hyori and Park Si Yeon. Jang Hyuk Jae PD expressed, "Please look forward to an interesting episode."

The state funeral broadcast of former S.Korean president, Kim Dae Jung this past Sunday had led to the cancellation of Family Outing on 23rd August. As such, the second part of Choi Soo Jung's Family Outing will be aired on 30th August instead. This will be followed by Shin Hyun Joon's Family Outing on 6 and 13th September. Kim Hyun Joong's Family Outing will thus air on 20 and 27th September.

Lee Minho, Kim Hyun Joong and UEE’s Magic Holes

No, it's not what you're thinking you sick byunts (but I do admit, the jokes are endless). AnyCall released their new phone Magic Hole, and with Son Dambi busy with Dream, AnyCall enlisted the help of After School's UEE to partner BBF's boys, Lee Minho and Kim Hyun Joong.

You'd think that AnyCall would be gracious to enlist the beautiful three for just one CF, but no. They released a whopping four different CF's! But wait, there's more! Each of the CF's give out plenty of fanservice for all parties involved. There's a bit of Kim Hyun Joong x UEE, Kim Hyun Joong x Lee Min Ho, UEE messing with Lee Minho, UEE x Magic Hole... you get the picture.

Aside from the amazing eyecandy involved, the CF's themselves can be described as... eccentric. It's madness and then overflowing with chessy humor... but I love it.

Story of Four Flowers photo book to be released

Just when you thought you won't be hearing about it, at least not so soon. It was revealed today that a Boys Over Flowers photo book will soon be released in Korea and Japan, to further cash in on the popularity of the drama which created a storm earlier in the year.

The photo book which is titled Story of Four Flowers (SOFF), captures the F4 members of Lee Min Ho, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum and Kim Joon at their charming best, with pre-orders beginning on 17th August. Even though the publisher are only taking in pre-orders at the moment for the 168 pages photo book, the response have been very encouraging. It was revealed that fans who buy the photo book will be able to see the F4 members, together with the natural beautiful scenery of Korea as the backdrop, showcasing a different charisma from their drama characters. There will also be a DVD included which contains private movie clips.

Cheesy title for a photo book but it will be like a bible for fans.






The photo book will be released officially on 5th September.

SS501 for Le Coq Sportif, fall photoshoot

Earlier in the year SS501 did a summer shoot for Le Coq Sportif and now they're back with a fall photoshoot. This shoot's theme was 'Play Together' and it certainly does look like they're having fun. The clothes themselves are bright, vintage style clothing with an 80's feel that look pretty good on the boys.

It looks like neon colors colors are slowly dying out though, so wear them while you can folks!

Kim Hyun Joong Rips Off His Clothes

SS501 recently kicked off their first Asia tour concert in Seoul. Fancams of the concert have surfaced online, the first of which may not be suitable for weak-hearted fangirls. Group leader Kim Hyun Joong, whom I've always considered too pretty to be sexy, provided major eye candy during his solo performance of Please Be Nice to Me. The beginning of the fancam shows an extended ending to their collection MV, with fangirls fainting at 0:21 and 0:31. At the six minute mark, Hyun Joong teases us by having some skank rip his shirt open, and finally a minute later, the shirt comes off completely.

SS501’s first Asia tour concert kicks off in Seoul

Popular 5 member group SS501 has started their Persona concert tour. This will be their first Asia tour concert ever and the first concert they've had in two years. With the release of their second album coming up, the boys performed 5 of the new songs especially for their fans before the album hits stores. The Seoul concerts are being held on the 1st through the 2nd and they plan to go to Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan throughout the entire tour.

The Boys Over Flowers love continues though, as fellow cast members Lee Min Ho, Kim Bum, and Goo Hye Sun were at the concert cheering on the group. Looks like the concert was a hit though and good luck to the boys on the rest of their tour.
