Reasons for Big Bang and G-Dragon Dream Concert TV Broadcast Absence

big bang
We already knew beforehand that 2PM's performance won't be shown during the tv broadcast of the 2009 Dream Concert on 11 October through SBS. But fans, especially VIPs wasn't counting on that to happen to Big Bang and G-Dragon as well. On the day of the concert, it was revealed that along with 2PM, Big Bang and G-Dragon's performances will not be shown on tv. Why was this so?

A Dream Concert staff tried to explain the situation, "When we signed the contract with YG Entertainment earlier, they had actually opted for the non-broadcast clause. There was no problem with that absolutely." YG Entertainment said, "We felt that it was not important whether the performance was broadcast or not, it was the participation that mattered. Besides it's a written rule in YG Entertainment that the non-broadcast clause is enforced when it's not a promotion period."

But that statement sounded ambigious especially when their performance at the recent Asia Song Festival in September without Daesung was aired. Furthermore, why was G-Dragon affected? Isn't he currently in the midst of promotions? And what about 2NE1 then? Aren't they currently on hiatus, preparing for their new album?

YG Entertainment explained further, "Although Big Bang performed as five on stage last night, Daesung who has just recovered from his injuries wasn't at his best condition, meaning that the overall performance level of Big Bang was affected as well. Thus, we decided to opt for a non-broadcast since Big Bang couldn't show off their best."

You won’t see Big Bang on the Dream Concert broadcast?

big bang
The Dream Concert was held earlier today at the Seoul's World Cup Stadium and it was pretty epic. The Dream Concert is scheduled to air on SBS, October 11th at 4PM (Korean Time). Many of you already knew that 2PM was going to be edited out of the official broadcast, but now there's word that Big Bang won't be on the official broadcast as well.

No, Big Bang didn't do anything wrong, instead YG Entertainment put in a special request that their performance be cut out from the broadcast. There's no word on the reason why they put in such a request, but people can speculate. Maybe because Daesung was rusty from a long layoff and they didn't want people to see Big Bang with a less than stellar performance? Your guess is as good as mine, it's quite unfortunate because many people wanted to see Daesung and Big Bang perform together... it's been a while, I guess that'll have to wait.

G-Dragon and Lee Seung Gi Causes Problems

20091008_gdsg_572
G-Dragon and Lee Seung Gi have no doubt been enjoying seemingly undying popularity these days. From G-Dragon's chart topping hit "Heartbreaker" to Lee Seung Gi's "Let's Break Up" gripping tightly over the number 1 position, September has been filled with endless champagne popping moments for the two.

Well, that's great for them, but the other artists who have happened to release their albums during the same time are not as ecstatic. On the recent episode of SBS's Strong Heart, veterans such as Brian from FTTS, Tablo of Epik High, MC Mong and Kim Tae Woo all voiced their complaints of having to release their albums around the same time as G-Dragon and Lee Seung Gi. It's all in good fun, and it's actually hilarious to hear about some of the things they had to do to avoid competing with these two's dominating popularity.

big bang

The government is currently wondering whether or not to take part in G-Dragon's plagiarism controversy.

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Yoo In Chon, on the 5th, in a national audit commented that, "In order to settle down the plagiarism controversy, I think it is necessary to use copyright committees and other related experts to examine and investigate this issue."

That same day, the senator of Grand National Party, Jin Sung Ho, is said to have listened to G-Dragon's "Heart Breaker" and Flo-Rida's "Right Round" and have asked the Ministry of Culture to make deliberate measures.

Big Bang Back on Korean TV After 10 Months Absence

big bang
Big Bang has been working hard on their Japan promotions as well as solo projects and are planning to return to the Korean scene on T.V! Sadly, not with a new album.

The five-member group will come back as part of the upcoming Chuseok special on SBS. This is a surprise appearance since they were not supposed to have Korean activities for most of 2009.

As many already knew, G-Dragon and 2NE1 performed on a special stage for the highly anticipated Idol Big Show, an episode to be revealed on October 3rd. This is a performance unlike any you have seen before! Are you excited?

As this is a pre-recorded performance, it has been reported that G-Dragon performed "Breathe", "Hello" with Dara, and "1 Year Station". Then 2NE1 followed up with "Fire" drum music/rhythmic version as well as "Let's Go Party" from their 1st Mini Album. "Let's Go Party" has not been performed live yet so that's definitely something to look forward to.

Then the surprise arrival of Big Bang had many fans shocked, because no one had any idea they were coming. They were there to support their fellow YG Family members, 2NE1 and their brother G-Dragon. The group sang "Last Farewell" with 2NE1 as well as their song, "How Gee".

Wait till October 3rd for more coverage!

Big Bang filming a new MV?

big bang
Is Big Bang filming a new MV? There have been some rumors that they are after photos of the boys filming surfaced on the internet. It looks like Daesung has recovered nicely and was healthy enough to be present for the shoot as well... however there was one Big Bang person missing. TOP, Seungri, Taeyang, and Daesung were all present but G-Dragon wasn't. He probably was busy because of his HEARTBREAKER promotions and his scenes will probably be filmed at a later date.

So what do you think this is for? People are speculating that it's for Taeyang's new MV for his upcoming solo release. When we find out the truth, we'll let you know. It's also good to see Daesung back again.

Preview of SNSD and After School on Idol Big Show

snsd
SNSD transformed into bunny girls and sang their hit song, "Gee".

On the Chuseok Special Idol Big Show, SNSD dressed up with bunny ear headbands as well as an adorable costume and gave a whole new feel to the song "Gee".
snsd
They also revealed their practice room. They are performing their debut song, "Into the New World", specially for this show, so they practiced in their training suits and practiced their routines until they were covered in sweat.

The girls talked about their experiences around the time they debuted as they rehearsed the dance they did 2 years ago. What it was like being on stage for the first time, their nervousness, and funny stories were among the things they revealed on the show.

After School will transform themselves into the Pussycat Dolls. After School is known for being the Korean Pussycat Dolls and even opened for the group when they came to Korea. Now they will share a sexy stage impersonating them. They will sing and dance to the song "Buttons." This performance will even involve some chair dancing! I think we already know After School will take the song to a new level.
20090926_AS_572
They will be joined by other artists such as G-Dragon, 2NE1, Kara, SHINee, Lee Seung Gi, 4minute, and etc.

The Chuseok Special Idol Big Show will air October 3rd.

G-Dragon’s thoughts on being called a “herbivore”

big bang
"Herbivore" or "Cho Shik Nam" (초식남) is a fairly new term in Korea. Herbivore is a slang term that comes from a new phenomenon in Japan that refers to men who do not show off their masculinity. They're passive about sex and relationships because they're too busy and aggressive when it comes to their own hobbies, interests, which are often considered "childish." They're "rebels," don't have money-driven careers and don't really care about pursuing women. Want an example? G-Dragon, who has been quite busy lately with his solo album HEARTBREAKER, is often referred to as a herbivore. Now, what does he think of the term?

G-Dragon performed at the 2009 Wonderful Korea concert on the 27th. When the MC of the show asked him "Aren't you a herbivore?," he smiled and answered. "I'm not sure what it means but I think it refers to a person who dresses well. In that sense, I think the term suits me." He might be way off there, but its nice that he at least took the question positively.

When the MC joked "Herbivores apparently aren't into relationships," G-Dragon answered, "On the contrary, I'm very interested in having a relationship. I just don't have a girlfriend yet though." And I'm pretty sure that G-Dragon is VERY interested in relationships, judging from this infamous look of his.

G-Dragon also told stories of other Big Bang members: "Taeyang is preparing for his second solo album, Daesung is pretty well now so you'll be able to see him soon. Seungri is preparing for a musical again and TOP is shooting a drama. Everyone is working hard."

G-Dragon performs “Breathe” on Inkigayo

20090927_gdinkigayo_572

After winning 3 straight weeks on SBS Inkigayo with his title track "Heartbreaker", G-Dragon was forced to switch it up because they have a maximum 3 wins cap on their show.

He decided to switch to "Breathe" which many consider the secondary track. It was performed before for G-Dragon's debut stage, but only in part.

Personally I would have preferred to see "Butterfly" performed, but you can't always have what you want, right? Check it out below.

And if you haven't, checked out our resident DJ Alikstae's remix.

G-Dragon loves Gaho

big bang

G-Dragon is man who lives up to the saying, "A dog is a man's best friend," because he has once again posted up a picture of him and his dog, Gaho.

On the 22nd, he updated his me2day with a picture of him Gaho and a caption reading, "The weather was finally nice so I went out to the river. It was nice to come out and break some sweat."

"Whew, Gaho has grown a lot so I can't carry him around anymore." he continued saying, "Have a good day everyone. I will update again next time."

big bang
The picture of him and his dog Gaho is the most precious picture in the world! People are right when they say dogs take after their owners, because Gaho is just absolutely adorable. But thank the Lord, he did not take after his owner's crazy hairstyles!

On another note, G-Dragon will be having his first solo concert since his solo debut in December. YG Entertainment's top dog, Yang Hyun Suk formally announced on his homepage, "We are planning to hold G-Dragon's solo concert on the first weekend this coming December at the Olympic Stadium."

What’s in store for G-Dragon?

big bang
Even though YG Entertainment is in a sticky situation with recent plagiarism issues, don’t think that Big Bang's G-Dragon will be on the down low until things get resolved.

Besides performing "Heartbreaker" and "Breathe", rumors have surfaced that YG Entertainment has plans to promote "Butterfly" and " A Boy" simultaneously on the radio and shows. We previously reported that G-Dragon was set to have to give a triple dose of MVs, but the latest buzz is that he will also be shooting music videos for “A Boy” and “Butterfly”. Others are speculating that "She's Gone" may also be made into a music video as well. However, none of these rumors have been confirmed, so everyone is still awaiting YG's verdict.

On top of these promotions and his solo concerts in December, it looks like G-Dragon will be promoting his solo album until the end of the year.

If you haven't heard Butterfly or Boy, check them out below!

G-Dragon’s a heartbreaker to Super Junior

20090926_heartbreakerchart_572
For most of the year Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry" ruled atop the Hanteo album sales chart but their reign on the top has been broken by G-Dragon's "Heartbreaker." On September 23rd, G-Dragon's Heartbreaker had a total sales figure of 116,270 units surpassing that of Super Junior's Sorry Sorry, which had a total sales figure of 116,131 units.

Now this pales in comparison to the 500,000 + units that TVXQ's Mirotic album sold last year, but this still is a pretty remarkable feat for the Heartbreaker, why? Because G-Dragon's album was released just a little more than a month ago, while Super Junior's album has been out since March. With all the plagiarizing issues G-Dragon's been dealing with, this is some good news for him.
